Here is the latest news from Institut nordique du Québec. You will notice that several calls are currently in progress. Please circulate the information through your network. Whether you are a student, a researcher, a long-time partner or a newcomer to INQ, we hope to receive your proposals for any of these calls and discover your projects related to our mission. Together for the North!

My Northern Project : call for applications is now open

Students, present your research project in 5 minutes and get a chance to participate in the international final of this contest.
New this year: the competition is open to Master's students who have analyzed their field data as well as to doctoral students working on a theme related to the North or the Arctic.

INQ Northern Days: Register now!

Participate in this scientific event with the theme of sustainable development of northern communities.
Join us in Quebec City on May 20 and 21 for a multidisciplinary event highlighting the dynamism of this research sector and the knowledge of its stakeholders.

Joint Call for Proposals INQ | SN

There is still time to submit a project proposal under the joint call launched in November 2019 by the Institut nordique du Québec and its partner Sentinel North.

Grants of up to $300,000 for 3-year projects.

MOOC | Northern Quebec: Issues, Spaces and Cultures

The registration period (for the French edition) is open until 17 February.
Did you know...
The Inuulitsivik Health Centre recently promoted MOOC on its Facebook page. The publication stated that the Health Centre employees who took the training reported that it gave them a better understanding of northern issues "through the multitude of topics and perspectives presented".

Release of the Indigenous Knowledge Workshop report

Held in April 2019, this workshop brought together some thirty researchers and representatives of the four nations of Northern Quebec to discuss the best ways to respectfully share and transmit indigenous knowledge and to discuss ways to increase the participation of indigenous communities in research.

A report on the discussions and exchanges at the Workshop is now available on our website. (An English version of this report will be available by the end of February.)

Louis Fortier honoured by the Académie des Grands Québécois

The Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Québec awarded the title of Grands Québécois to INQ’s Director of Science and Innovation, Louis Fortier.

Created in 1989, the Académie des Grands Québécois is an honorary institution whose objective is to recognize the exceptional merit of people who have distinguished themselves brilliantly throughout their careers and who contribute to the dynamism of the Québec City region.

Québec Science's Discovery of the Year Awards

Québec Science magazine unveiled its list of the 10 discoveries of 2019. We invite you to vote for the project " Une batterie thermique pour les habitants du Nunavik ", which stems from the INQ research chair on the Geothermal potential of the North led by INRS professor Jasmin Raymond.
Voting is open until February 14.

The Prix du Québec

The call for nominations for the Prix du Québec 2020 is now open.
These awards, which constitute the highest distinction of the Québec government in the fields of culture and science, reward the exceptional careers of fifteen personalities, seven of whom are in the scientific field.
